Hi,
It's very nice to show my second model on ARC. This is a BAe Hawk, made from two 1/72 BAe Hawk T.1 kits.
The first kit was a Red Arrows example, bought for a few euros, but all the parts in red.
The wing and fuselage pieces were, however, hideously bent. I tried to let loose all kinds of techniques to get the parts in the correct shape.
In aligning the fuselage, I was moderately successful. The wings however, were more stubborn.
Up to this point, however, I had concentrated on the fuselage entirely, first using plastic tidbits en stretched sprue, together with the old Airwaves detailing set for detailing the cockpit.
By torturing the fuselage mercilessly, by heat mostly, I got it in the right shape. The cockpit didn't fit in well at all, so sanding of interior components was needed, as well as filling of the gaps between the fuselage halves after they came together.

Up to this point, I was NOT linking this project at all.
But then came the wings. I spent too much time in correcting the A380-ish-shaped wings.
But I just resolved I wasn't lucky with the model I had bought. So I went back to the store and bought myself a new kit.
Once again I got a cheap one. With good wings this time.
But... you perhaps can guess... now the wings didn't fit well because of the slightly widened fuselage. So I had to sand and fill again.
In my stash I still had a very old Airfix kit of a Hawk. The Airfix kit has a better rendered nose --the Italeri one is too pointy. So I sawed off the nose and replaced it with the Airfix one --which, with all the difficulties I had encountered until now, was a quite simple task actually.
With the model done, after adding some extra detailing with, again, plastic tidbits and the Airwaves set, I set forth to apply many a primer coat, which was very necessary with all the Red Arrow redness. Half way during the building process, I had resolved to make an Indonesian (TNI-AU) example, of the Skadron Udara 15 (SkU 15), in the late nineties. No particular reason why, except for I had a liking of the colour scheme.
I used Xtracolor enamels for the painting job. I don't remember which decals I used, but they from a Singaporean company.
All in all, I can say --thank goodness that it's behind me..!
Thank you!
