At the beginning of the
nineties, by acquiring 20 BAe Hawk Mk.66 and a flight simulator, the Swiss Air
Force made a decisive progress in the field of basic instruction on
jet. Until 1989, the Swiss pilots obtained their licence after having
followed a formation on PC-7, Vampire-Trainer and Vampire.
Bae Hawks were withdrawn from the service at the end of 2002.

This is my first kit
in a very long time. For this one, I used the Italeri kit (Hawk T. Mk1/55/66
IT0186) with photoetched form Eduard (Hawk
Mk.1 72337), Model Art sheet including special Swiss markings (Model Art 72/034)
and additional features, e.g. for the SIWA, the name for the Swiss version of
the Sidewinder.
