This is the new
kit from Hannants Xtrakit range, the first one in the range in fact.
It is a lovely kit overall, fine recessed surface details and a great
little cockpit. One area I had to make sure of was to put plenty of
nose weight in the forward area of the fuselage to prevent a tailsitter.
I realy enjoyed this kit, its relatively simple to put together and only
required a small amount of filler around the wing roots and the engine
nacelles. I scratchbuilt the IFF antenna and the whip aerial using
stretched sprue and replaced the wingtip pitot with a sewing pin.

In
the kit are three decal options, I chose WH470 of No.600sqn
RAuxAF Biggin Hill in the 1950's.
I used Humbrol
Metal Cote Polished Aluminium sprayed on thinned with cellulose(lacquer)
thinner and then buffed varying areas with cotton buds to achieve some
tonal variation. The decals went down brilliantly. I drilled out the nose
gun ports too. The finished model now takes pride of place in my model
cabinet.
